Magnifying the Lord ~ A Study in the Word
September 1, 2007

This week’s word study contributed by:
Kevin Sparkman

Looking at Titus 2:11-12

Titus 2:11-12:

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lust, we should live
soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.

Grace ~ Greek: Charic - pronounced khar'-ece: divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in life. It is also favor, (often times translated as unmerited) and a gift.

Teaching ~ Greek: Paideuo - pronounced pahee-dyoo'-o: to train up, as a child, to instruct or teach, to educate by teaching, modeling, discipline, punishment, or chastening.

Denying ~ Greek: Arneomai - ar-neh'-om-ahee: to reject, to deny, and to refuse.

Thought to consider:

It is the grace of God working in our hearts and lives teaching us as His children.
He is educating, instructing and chastening us until we deny, reject, and refuse all ungodliness and worldly lust with the goal in mind of living soberly, righteous, and godly in this present world.
