Magnifying the Lord ~ A Study in the Word
September 10, 2007
This week’s word study contributed

Looking
at 2 Chronicles 7:14
2 Chronicles 7:14 -
If my people, which are called by
my name, shall humble themselves, and
pray, and seek my face,
and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear
from heaven, and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land.
Everybody is talking, looking, and hoping for revival, but are we
following
God's way of revival? Let's look at a familiar portion of the Bible
and see
what the word says about God's way of revival.
People ~ (Hebrew) am - a people as a
congregated unit; troops or attendants;
a flock; a nation.
Called ~ (Hebrew) qara (kaw-raw) - to
call out to; to properly address by
name.
Humble ~ (Hebrew) kana (kaw-nah) - to
bend the knee; to humiliate; bring down
low into subjection; to subdue.
Pray ~ (Hebrew) palal (paw-lal) - to judge
(officially or mentally); by
extension to intercede, to pray: entreat, judge, make prayer, make
supplication.
Seek ~ (Hebrew) baqash (baw-kash) - to
search out (by any method specifically in worship or prayer); by
implication to strive after: ask, beg, beseech, desire, enquire,
get, make inquisition, procure, make request, require, seek for.
Face ~ (Hebrew) paniym (paw-neem) - face
(as the part that turns); countenance, person, presence.
Turn ~ (Hebrew) shub (shoob) - to turn
back (hence away) to return, to cease, continually convert, deny,
draw back, repent.
Wicked - (Hebrew) ra raah (rah raw-aw)
bad or (as a noun) evil (naturally or morally) wretchedness.
Hear ~ (Hebrew) shama (shaw-mah) to hear,
consider, discern, give ear, listen, regard, make a proclamation,
publish.
Forgive ~ (Hebrew) salach (saw-lakh) to
forgive, pardon, spare.
Sin ~ (Hebrew) chatta ah Chatt th (khat-taw-aw;
khat-tawth) offense (sometimes habitual sinfulness) and its penalty
and punishment.
Heal ~ (Hebrew) rapha raphah (raw-faw;
raw-faw) to properly mend (by stitching) to cure, heal, repair,
make whole.
God is calling His people from all
congregations and from all over the world to bend their knee in
humble subjection and prayer.
He is asking us to strive, desire, and seek Him with all of our
heart, so we can turn from our own wretchedness. He promises His
people if they will do this He will forgive, remove, and restore
the effects of our sin.
