Vision of Two Little Girls
I woke one morning with one of my dear friends weighing heavily on my heart and mind. As I began to seek an answer to this stirring, I called one of the ladies that I often pray with. I explained the discontent I was feeling and asked her to join with me in agreement as we asked God to show us how to pray for this mutual friend.
As we joined in the prayer of agreement, direction seemed to flow into our hearts and words formed as we called out together for our friend. The words we spoke were filled with a call for guidance, and for mercy to be her companion. We asked for protection as she walked through a hard time and place.
As we came to the close of our prayer, I had a vision.
In the vision were two little girls, running frantically into their home. As they came into the room where their Father was, they both begin to cry out for His attention. With concern in their voice they were calling to the father, Come quickly! Sister needs your help! It wasn't just the one voice, but two. Not just one seeing the need, but two. The double cry caused the Father to turn His face toward them and I could see the Father bringing His full attention to bear on the details that were tumbling out in a mutual cry from the children -- words over words, as their concern was mirrored in each face.
As I watched the vision, I remembered the scripture that says one can put a thousand to flight and two can put ten thousand to flight. I became aware of the parent who hears the cry of the single voice, and turning looks at the child to see if all is well. But, when two children come running in, with the same awareness of need, the focus of the parent immediately narrows to discern the depth of need, the focus increased by the force of the call.
If both of my children see something the same way, I have learned that I need to focus and listen. But sad to say, in the past, I have not always been pleased to do so, being that they have often expose my un-renewed frailties.
But, God is pleased when we come to Him. He is eager to listen. It is His good pleasure to give us the Kingdom, and He delights when we have a common call, a common heartbeat a heartbeat that is tuned toward our brothers and sisters in good times and bad. He has pleasure when we operate as a caring family and it is in this agreement that His love is released in greater measure.
I am so thankful that we have the gift of prayer. The prayer of agreement just adds
another dimension to this wondrous gift. I cannot tell you how many times this type
of prayer has kept me safe within a storm. The joy of knowing that focused love - coming
from my Father, is like a security blanket that is ever present to keep me safe -- no
matter what it looks like. And that loving care of my sister, calling out in prayer adds
to this security showing me once again the joy of being part of the family.
