Avoid the Snare of the Enemy - Renew the Mind
By Bob Steeger

Romans 12:1-2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

There is a reason God tells us to renew our minds. So we can defeat the enemy of our soul.

When we make the choice to follow this direction from the scripture we make way for our heart and mind to stay focused on His love and His ability to do abundantly above what we can hope or think.  But, if we are have an abundance of negativity around us or entering into our thought processes, know that it's not from God.

There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus; who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. This is where we enter into the victory and we actually win.

Remember every evil thing starts with a wrong impulse, a wrong thought -- and sometimes it begins with how we hear what is being said. The enemy wants you to hear things the wrong way.  It is one of the most effective weapons in his arsenal - one of his most debilitating tactics.

An example: Someone tells you "It is urgent that you move as quickly as possible to be near your mother.  It is time to get about the things your mother and you have discussed.  I feel an urgency that you need to do this."

Now the person speaking into your life is looking at the blessing coming to you - but your mom has had difficulties with her health and the enemy puts terrible thoughts in your mind -- which try to convince you that something evil is going to happen to her.

But, you have made a declaration of your faith, believing for her well being.

What is happening here? The enemy is using his weapon against you - the weapon of fear and worry, anxiety and anguish, and dread -- trying to negate your faith.

But we know better!

Let's be wise as a serpent and as gentle as a dove and not fall into the trap of the enemy.  Wise to the ways of the enemy and choose to be moved by the gentleness of God's love for us.

Let's agree we won't fall into this trap -- because in God there is no negativity.

We will renew our minds to remember the promise - and hold fast to the confidence we have in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
